About Us

Hi, I’m Holly — founder of Billy Opal, a locally owned boutique in downtown Staunton.

I’ve always been business & sales driven - from selling crafts as a kid to owning my first store at 19. I worked hard, had big goals, and stayed focused until I hit them. After selling that first store in 2018, my husband Kalem and I hit the road and traveled across the country. We eventually landed in Staunton and knew this was home. That’s where Billy Opal was born.

The name means a lot to me. It’s a nod to my parents — Billy is my dad’s name, and opal is my mom’s favorite stone. Naming the shop after them just felt right. It’s personal, but also felt like something that could stand on its own — strong, familiar, and with a little bit of soul.

At Billy Opal, we offer women’s and men’s clothing, with new arrivals hitting the floor every day — all handpicked by me. My goal is simple: to make shopping feel easy, exciting, and welcoming.

Year after opening Billy Opal, my friend and I co-founded Little Opal store next door. Shortly after, my husband Kalem and I opened Blue Barn Dog Daycare & Boarding. Both ventures rooted in our love for Staunton community and our desire to bring something special to the neighborhood. 

In addition to running three brick and mortar store, I also work as a Business Consultant, helping entrepreneurs and small businesses reach their goals. I'm passionate about everything from enhancing customer service to improving sales and fine tuning daily operations. I love helping people turn their visions into reality and empower them with the tools and confidence to succeed. 

I'm a busy lady! But I always make time to enjoy the little things in life. I love being apart of downtown Staunton. I often say - we might be a small town but we are a big deal!
